The wait for the new mid-engine Corvette is finally over, as production of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray began this month after being delayed for several months. After the C8 Corvette Stingray, we can also look forward to the next-generation Corvette Z06, which was recently spotted flaunting its wider body. Thanks to its new mid-engine layout, the 2020 Corvette Stingray boasts supercar looks.

But if the standard car looks too tame for you, rest assured that aftermarket tuners are already busy developing tuning kits for Chevrolet's mid-engine sports car. US tuner Street Hunter, for example, is developing a wide body kit for the C8 Corvette and has shared some renders previewing what the finished project will look like.

The most obvious difference is the addition of a huge GT3-style rear wing that looks like it belongs on the Corvette C8.R race car, which should generate considerable levels of downforce. Speaking of which, the wing brackets are directly inspired by the Corvette C8.R.

Elsewhere, Street Hunter has added a rear carbon fiber diffuser, a front bumper extension, black carbon fiber accents, and rear fender flares housing custom wheels that make the C8 Corvette look even more aggressive. No side skirts or front fender flares have been added, but Speed Hunter is considering adding these parts in future versions of the body kit.

Speed Hunter is currently waiting to receive delivery of its C8 Corvette to turn these tuning kit renders into reality. No modifications have been made under the hood since C8 Corvette engineers have put in measures that prevent modders from hacking the ECU. In stock form, the C8 Corvette is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 with 490 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, which increases to 495 hp with the Z51 package. With this setup, 0-62 mph takes just 2.9 seconds before the C8 Corvette tops out at 194 mph.

If you want more power, Hennessey is planning to boost the C8 Corvette to a staggering 1,200 horsepower, but the tuner may need GM's help to unlock the car's full potential.
